Silibest is classified as an ISO 4823 Type 0 – very high viscosity putty silicone, designed as the first-phase impression material for dual-phase techniques. The material exhibits excellent reproduction of fine details while maintaining high pressure resistance and elastic recovery during regeneration . With a Shore A hardness of 65, Silibest provides the optimal balance between initial flow characteristics and final rigidity, ensuring accurate results across all impression indications .
The condensation-curing reaction creates a dimensionally stable elastic silicone with exceptional tear strength. Unlike addition silicones, condensation silicones like Silibest exhibit moderate hydrophilicity, allowing for accurate impressions even in moist field conditions. The material releases no toxic substances during or after curing, ensuring patient and operator safety . The putty consistency is non-sticky and easy to handle and mix, with a distinct yellow color that provides clear contrast with light-body wash materials during the sandwich technique .
For optimal results, BMS Silibest is used in conjunction with Sililight low-viscosity light-body silicone and Silibest Catalyst Gel. The putty is available in multiple packaging configurations, including single cartridges of 900ml base mass with measuring scoop, or as part of the convenient Silibox kit containing Silibest 900ml, Sililight 140ml, and Catalyst Gel 60ml .
